On Sunday, 16 July 2023, 150 rowers and 60 small boats crossed the capital from the Roman Coast to the Kopaszi Dike to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Budapest. At all times, the boats and SUPs were protected from larger vessels by a rolling barrier in accordance with safety regulations. The event continued at the docking site in Dürer-kert with a community cooking and – thanks to Panda – with some music.
With the boat crossing, we showed how important the touchable Danube is to us, since the capital is the most beautiful from the river and the river is the most beautiful in the capital.
We have organised this year’s Budapest Crossing again in response to the great interest and success of last year’s event, because we want to draw everyone’s attention to the fact that it is currently not possible to row safely on the Danube in the city because of the larger boats, although we believe that small boats should also have the opportunity to use the Danube.
