Between 18 June and 15 August 2021, the Rakpart, which has been freed from traffic due to the ongoing construction works, was made accessible to the city. On the southern part of Id. Antall József quay, we used various urban planning tools and together with the residents of the city we tested and demonstrated how a public space cast in concrete can be used in a different way than what we are used to in everyday life. Plants, sunbeds, a badminton court, picnic tables – that’s what Rakpart was about in 2021 between Kossuth Lajos Square and Chain Bridge. Over the summer, we painted the asphalt, placed street furniture, flower containers and painted sports fields in the area, and 100 car spaces were filled with 100 plants and bike racks. No commercial activities or events were held in the area, Rakpart 2021 was turned into a real park.
