Together with the opening of the Árasztó-part in 2022, we inaugurated Budapest’s first public compost toilet on the Danube bank in Albertfalva. The compost toilet allows the circulation of natural materials. The unique compost toilet worked without using water, unlike traditional mobile toilets, it did not require chemicals and thanks to the wood chips, users did not have to expect unpleasant odours. In the future, we would like to see compost toilets in parks and playgrounds in Budapest to solve the missing toilet situation.
Compost toilets could be a new tool to replace uncomfortable public toilet containers in areas and temporary events that do not have sewer or water infrastructure.
