Budapest Boat Crossing 2024

This year we organized the Rowing through Budapest event for the third time, where more than 200 people, in nearly 50 boats, rowed together from Római part to Dürer kert. We touched the water of the Danube and crossed the city in a way that we rarely get to do. Together we showed how important it is for us to have a touchable and accessible Danube. By rowing together, we wanted to draw attention to the fact that transportation and sports in river canoes and kayaks is possible within the borders of Budapest and deserve more space in the city. Many people joined us to experience this special community experience and support the initiative. As the Város és Folyó Egyesület (City and River Association) and the Maradjanak a Fák a Rómain (Let the Trees Remain on Római) group, we continue to work on bringing the Danube closer to people. We believe that it is necessary to create water sports sections in the capital, where everyone can use the river by swimming or rowing freely, in a safe distance from large ships.
